A wonderful series of children's books is now available!
"The Adventures of Ernie the Little Garden Snake .... The Old Mill Pond" This is a wonderful children's story about a kind hearted little garden snake who goes on an overnight camp out. There are many wonderful characters such as Mrs. Cottontail and her baby rabbits, Rodney the little mouse, Big Dan, the Ariel dragonfly, the three hobo rats, and of course there's Ernie's special little friend from school, Charlie, the bullfrog. Ernie is the kind of little guy that we wish every child could be like ... he is always kind, respectful, loving, and caring ... he's actually to good to be true. As you read this bedtime story to your children, you may find yourself in need of Ernie's little red handkerchief to wipe away the tears. As you read the story you will find a moral that is intended to help children become the best they can be. Find the moral to the story, teach it to your child, and live happily ever after. There's actually two different stories coming. One of Ernie's journey to the Mill Pond, and one of his Birthday party ... an interesting story all to its self. In "The Birthday" we meet Mr. Canebreak, the gruff old rattler, and Antenna, Ernie's pet caterpillar. Of course the story would not be complete without Little Bobby, the gray squirrel whose family watches over the small village of Woodsville. Through out both stories we find a hero; a hero who never sees himself as such ... he's just a kid having fun, and bring love and friendship to all who meet him along his journey in life.
Two more books are now available ... The Birthday Party and Ernie's First Coloring Book. If you order on line at www.roybatesbooks.com you can save $8.00 bucks and get the color book ... Free

One piece of the story .... Rabbits!
Mrs. Cottontail believed that it was important to teach her children about raising a garden, and also how important it was to eat their vegetables, especially their turnip greens. Now some of her babies just didn’t like turnip greens very much. They would say to her, “Mama, these turnip greens taste kind’a yucky. Do we have to eat them?” To which she would respond, “Now children, ya’ll know that turnip greens are good for you, and besides, they’ll make you grow up big and strong!” The baby rabbits liked carrots and celery, and they even liked radishes, but they just didn’t like turnip greens. Of course, the little rabbits always obeyed their mother, and so they would eat all of their vegetables, even the turnip greens.

Ernie and the three little rats sat up most of the night telling stories. As he sat and listened to their stories he could imagine himself in those far away places, places he could only dream about.
Mr. Slowpoke, the wise old turtle
"Look," says one of the turtle doves," here come Mr. Slowpoke. Looks like he's head'n to the post office. He's probably going to mail a letter to his great uncle who lives down on the Louisiana bayou."
